Best bits about San Stefano? ..
« on: March 20, 2010, 07:49:51 PM »
OK having done quite a bit of research now on SS, think I DEFF want to book it this summer

From what I can see the best points that keep people coming back year after year are ...

The beach
The sunsets
Friendly locals
Great tavernas
Yannis enthusiasm about the place
  :)

What else can you regulars add to these  ;)

It has NO traffic
It has NO discos
It has NO roundabouts
It has NO traffic lights
It has NO lager louts
It has NO Saga louts

What it has in abundance is great people, good food and good drink ... The wine does grow on you!!

I think Don is saying - it has no through traffic, just a little.
No Clubs for the 18-30 set, the Condor does have a DJ, but it's an all age-group welcome and nice atmosphere!
No roundabouts - who needs them! (unless Don stands in the road at the T-Junction)!LOL
No Traffic Lights - just disco lights!
No Lager Louts - just DON!!
No Saga Louts - (I liked that one Don!!),
because all of the over 50's are too old and decrepid to cause trouble - and are too nice too!!

San Stefanos does not attract the Lout element - except Don, Jules, Sue, Zoe, Sandra, Colin No2, and a few others of course!!
But don't worry - I can control them for you - i'll just buy them a Mythos!! Simple!

When you get to know Jules,
you will understand that she means that we have to carry her back on a stretcher after she gets "relaxed" LOL

And to and from the beach - everywhere in fact!!

(Ok Jules - I am running now!!) LOL

Mikee -
BEACH STUFF:
The Dive Shop - See "Kipper" or "Bubbles" for that water sports treat, (Opp. Nafsika Hotel)
Capt'n Nikkos, or his son Leon for the Water Sports on the Beach.
The wonderful Beach itself, - take a walk as far as you can, past a few Nudies right at the end, a very pleasant walk.
A nice Lunch in the Havana Beach Bar, watching the locals play 5-a-side, or next door if you have young kids for the slides etc.
Lunch is also good on the Beach, in the Athina Hotel Pool Bar, The Waves Taverna or the Mistral (if open).
Nice lunches just off the Beach at Manthos Taverna, Nafsika Hotel, Aquarios Bar (Behind Athina Hotel).

Breakfast/Lunch in town
My Favourites are:
Two Stars - Lovely Food & People - best prices! Nice Evening Meals as well - easy on the budget - not on the quality!
Condor Bar, Little Prince, Nafsika Hotel, Aquarios Bar, Thomas Bay Hotel, Barras Taverna.

EVENINGS:
Make sure you try The Beachcomber Bistro (at least once),
for that special meal as the sun sets over the bay. - best to book the day before.

Ozzie Oils and Mythica for great food, and a different menu! Excellent!!!
The Sunset Taverna - beautiful Greek Food and odd evenings of entertainment.
The Little Prince (must try the sizzling Steak) or Zorba's (Try the Plank Steak) for meals with Dancing Greek Waiters.

Then there's:
The Olympia with it's international Menu, Nafsika Hotel - the same - also a bit of Dancing,
The Olive Press spit roast meat, Manthos Taverna (They do a Greek Night - but food quality can drop on these nights)!, otherwise V/Nice!
Try a meal up the top at the Romanza, BBQ Night is a must at Teresa's up the hill, also at Ozzie Oils! #
Paradise Taverna - a few others - all are pretty good!

Bars:
Take your pick - lots of nice Bars!
Quiet Bars:
Aquarios - great atmosphere - great host!!
Kaminni Bar - Quiet - nice.
WWW (3Ws's), Intranet Cafe' - occasional entertainment.
Bar Opp. Thomas Bay Hotel, another Intranet Cafe' with small kids entertainment feature.(sorry - forgot name)!
Music Bars
Condor Bar - always some kind of entertainment on! Family Friendly!
Thomas Bay Hotel Bar
Bar 38 - (if Open) great bar!
Athens Bar, younger set to a degree! Fun!
Bar next to Little Prince (forgot the name)! Fun Bar - younger set!
Silver Star - Music / TV / Entertainment - Cocktails.

That's just to get you started!
Enjoy!
