This years prices
« on: May 24, 2010, 11:09:53 AM »
Can anyone tell me what the prices are like this year for eating out, drinks etc compared to last year.  Am lucky enough to be squeezing an extra week in this Friday as well as our main August holiday and was wondering how much spends to take.  Staying at the marvellous Athina holel on a B & B basis only so will be eating out every night.  Thank you.

UPDATE ON FOOD AND BEER PRICES FOR 2010

From several reliable sources in San Stafanos last week, apparently, in the closed season the restaurateurs of the town held a meeting to fix prices for the forthcoming season.
The results were that:

1 Any 2 course set meal will be no lower than 6.00 Euros.
2 Any 3 course set meal will be no lower than 9.00 Euros.
3 Any half litre of beer will be no lower than 2.50 Euros.
NOTE These are minimum (not maximum prices) prices.

All in all, the prices of food and beer are fairly unchanged from last year, so still very good value considering that VAT was 19% and is now currently 21% and is due to rise to 23% within the next couple of months.

Nearly all of the tavernas are adhering with the above agreements, I.E. Most, but not all have adopted the set meal agreement, and again most but not all have adopted the fixed price beer, Nafsika, Mythica, Condor, Little Prince have kept the beer prices to 2.50 Euros, The Romanza Hotel have raised theirs to 3.00 Euros
For the self catering visitors the supermarket prices are very high compared to the UK, a breakfast cereal in UK is £1.00 and in San Stef it is 5.20 Euros, pro rata for many other products

Now then. Looking at your log in name, are you by any chance a fellow sufferer? (Commonly known as a Leeds fan!!)

If so then I'll be there also towards the end of August..........we could swap tales of woe!

As you both live in Leeds it seems likely!

By the end of August we could well have had Hull - 3 Leeds - 0  :-*

General consensus is very similar to last year - maybe a touch dearer - but little in it!
Have a good holiday!!

Thank you all for your replies.  They were very useful.. Yes I am a Leeds fan and have been very happy with the promotion.  I had my photo taken with Jermaine Beckford and Simon Grayson a couple of weeks ago!  We go to San Stef  on Friday and again on 13th August.  May see you all there. x x

We've played Manure the last two years and had holidays booked before the fixtures come out. Letting our box has paid for the hols. 2010/11 we may see them.
