Hi everyone, my first post on this site.

Just got back from San Stefanos this morning, happy to report that the beach is plenty wide enough.
Over the two weeks that we were there it widened by a good 5/6 yards and there was another bank of sand about 15 yards out into the sea that seemed to be moving slowly to the beach.

Can't say the same for poor Arillas though, compared to 2008, they have lost nearly all of their beach.

hi Jules T,

We stopped at the Vicky Apartments, which we found ideal. Very close to the beach and a really pleasant 10 minute walk into the centre of the village.
I must say that we were really taken with San Stefanos and whilst there are plenty of other places we would like to go to, I think that it is more than likely that we will return some time soon.

We now have an understanding of why you love the place so much.

regards,

Just returned and can def say the beach is alot smaller than it was - although once you walk past the watersports (Nikos & Leo) it does seem to widen out to something similar last year - very narrow around the entrance to Athina area - sun beds right up against the dunes - but still lovely and clean and plenty of room for everyone - didn't seem overcrowded at all. Did miss the cantina but when we had beach days we could get toasties / coffee etc from Athina.

We just got back last night (16th) from SS.  Was pretty shocked about the beach - we went last in 2008.  It felt totally different - as people have said SIGNIFICANTALLY narrower by the Athina and all along there - the football pitch seems reduced buy the Havana Bar.  It's funny really, the sand has banked up at the back and we always got to the end of the sunbeds before the nudist beach and the past two weeks this was the busiest end.  This has really changed - the beach is flat and spread out more and by the nudist bit it is much wider - it's possible now to sunbathe on the beach to the furthest point around the headland - the rocks etc have gone and the sand flattened out. Seems to have been really cleaned and sorted out. So, in essence, the beach is thinner but spreads out more to the very end cliff (which used to be unreachable).  The beach feels a bit more crowded as not as many people around the Manthos, Waves and Athina end - they have just spread out further along - but in reality it is still comfortable on the beds - there is plenty of space around you.  Abou 300 yards out into the sea is a large sandbank and also there are pools of water (like little ponds) before the seashore ALL along the beach now not just one at the nudist end.  You ahve to wade a very long way out to get any sort of deep water. The beach is still good though and the last few days when the weather became SCORCHIO the sea was just still and turquoise and warm as a bath - FANTASTIC!

Almost makes me want to leave the confines of the Romanza during the day!! Might make the effort this year to spend a few days on the beach. I just love the ease of having my room and the pool bar near by!

We are the same Gav  - like to be by the pool but also we do like a morning walk up the beach - seems we will be able to go a bit further this year as well. Roy is going to go for a daily run along the beach as well.
