The Bars Of SS
« on: July 07, 2010, 07:19:21 PM »
Hi Guys

Just been reading the various topics re Bar 38, Condor etc.

What kind of bar is each bar if that makes sense. For example - more drink led than food led, shows live sport, has a DJ, plays music via Ipod/CD, has live bands etc etc

Cheers

Athens Bar - Live sport and great tunes via Cd with the odd live act. My favourite by far.

What time do the bands normally come on?

I like to lounge round the pool till around 5ish, have a beer, go get changed then have a swifty at the pool bar before heading off for tea around 8 - 8.30

Hi Gavlah, from what I can remember from 2008 it was usually around 10pm.
Being a Northerner, I too will be having ' tea' and not dinner of an evening.
I am so looking forward to 20th August, got most of my euro's now, clothes all ironed and waiting to be packed.

We are on the 8.05am from Stockport international too[Manchester airport].
We live in Trafford near to Altrincham so it is only 20 minutes away in a taxi.
How are your knees bearing up? If you need a firemans lift onto the plane then let me know and hubby will carry you.
I will be scanning the plane for a man in high heels and lippy.

We've booked a lounge at the Airport. The missus gets 3 per year free with her bank. All we have to do is pay £15 for me!! I'll make sure I drink that in Champagne alone!

Really cant wait now, it's strating to drag. Just need two weeks in the Sun. Looking forward to lots of wine and nice Greek food

The knees a lot better, I bit the bullet and went to the gym early last week. It's been hard work but I think I've managed to run it off. By Sunday I'll have managed 5 times this week!

We used one of the airport lounges in 2007 before our 6pm flight to olu Deniz, Turkey.
Hubby was in paradise, all those drinks/snacks freely available. Not bothering this year due to early morning flight, don't think I could face alcohol at 6am, probably have some wine on the plane though.
Good to see you are back at the gym. Been doing lots of cycling and walking myself.

Right, back on topic.

SS bars -
The Condor, our regular haunt - anything goes in here - good food, TVs, tribute acts, karaoke and music from the DJ into early hours, plus loads of games machines at the back.

Three W bar - live music on Sundays, nothing much else

athens bar - didn't venture in but seems to be a favourite of many on here  - mainly music i think
Hotel Thomas Bay - live music, karaoke, quizzes, food
Silver Star bar - chilled out, beer, + an awful 60s tribute by a cheesy guy called Jerry James a couple of times/night - sorry but some of the regs regard him as some kind of SS hero - dreadful.

Just a quick note from me as I am off to the Little Prince for dinner.

Everything here is as great as ever, the beach is improving all the time and the weather is perfect, will do a full feedback when I get back but a have an appointment with a sizzling steak so must sign off!
