Arriving in San Steph Tommorrow (By Car!)

<< < (7/8) > >>

tonyco1:
Well spotted Gav!
Anita Ward indeed - she was a bit of a one-hit wonder late seventies or early eighties if I remember correctly,
I remember it was a big-big hit one summer.
It was one of those annoying repetitive tracks that you just could not get out of your mind, still can't!! LOL
I would end up singing along with it as it played in my car cassette player, in the old days, then remember it for the rest of the day!!.

don:
This song rings a bell - What rings yours?

Oh What will you give me?
Say the sad bells of Rhymney
Is there hope for the future?
Say the brown bells of Merthyr
Who made the mine owner?
Say the black bells of Rhondda
And who killed the miner?
Say the grim bells of Blaina
Put the vandals in court
Say the bells of Newport
All would be well if, if, if, if
Say the green bells of Cardiff
Why so worried sisters? Why?
Sang the silver bells of Wye
And what will you give me?
Say the sad bells of Rhymney
Oh What will you give me?
Say the sad bells of Rhymney
Is there hope for the future?
Say the brown bells of Merthyr
Who made the mine owner?
Say the black bells of Rhondda
And who killed the miner?
Say the grim bells of Blaina

tonyco1:
The Byrds - another classic Group from way back when!
lyrics by Idris Davies,
and a few other Artists also did this song, Pete Seeger, John Denver, Cher to name a few!

don:
Song that's always rearing it's way up to the front of my brain.

tonyco1:
There seem to be a lower percentage good music written these days in comparison to the surge of Music in the sixties/seventies/eighties - or is it just me?
In saying that there is some terrific music about from the last ten years or more as well, just maybe a lot less!
