Welcome to San Stefanos (NW Corfu) > Out and About
Thanks for Walks info
Chocs:
I'd just like to say thanks to whoever it was who put up the info on walks around San Stefanos on the main website. It was our first visit and we really enjoyed almost everything about the place. Some days it was a bit on the cloudy side, and we went off to Arillas (via two routes), Avliotes (back via olive groves from the juction down to the beach), and lovely walks around and about. Although we'd probably have found some of this on our own it was great to have the directions, especially down the hill from Avliotes past the wee church. We saw lots of interesting things - turtles, a water snake, a kingfisher, a huge toad, and a dead something we couldn't identify. Lots of lovely plants too. So thank you, whoever you are, you helped us to discover the area and get max enjoyment from seeing a bit more than the beach.

Hi Chocs
The regulars here are always pleased to help out with info, in between the banter!
Just ask and one of us will reply quickly.
I think it was Lilly that gave the info in this case, in the other post,
but it's the Administrators who maintain the main site and put in all the general local information.
They tend to read the posts at times and I am sure will pick up your thanks and nice comments.
Regards
Tony
Jimbo:
Recommend buying the walk book from Marengo. Superb information.
The walk to Avliotes through the olive groves is stunning. We also walked to Afionas and back. Wonderful walk with brilliant views.

And if Jimbo can do it - - - - - - must be OK!! LOL
Seriously though - although I don't do the long walks so much now, I have done them all, many times in the past and totally agree with Jimbo.
I love the Olive Groves, especially, a little spooky looking, the trees are all unique, the terrain can be difficult and look a touch "Harry Potter",
but what a nice walk and view - in land a touch different from the English Countryside - We love it!!
What a great way to relax if you get fed up with beach or pool life!
Jimbo:
Thanks, Tony!
It was a bit hard getting the zimmer frame up some of the paths. :o
