Welcome to San Stefanos (NW Corfu) > San Stefanos news and views

winter is here

(1/1)

lizzie:

WINTER IS HERE AND AFTER 5PM IT'S SOOOOOOO COLD, BUT TO WALK ALONG THE BEACH EVEN IN A GALE FORCE WIND IS WONDERFUL. THE BEACH IS TOTALY DIFFERENT .

18 WEEKS 'TILL THE SEASON AND THE LOCALS HAVE NOT STOPPED WORK .

tonyco1:
We have to go in my least favourite time, school holidays at the end of July, (August really).
This is because my son was made redundant, got a pay-off and a new job within 2 weeks with a £10k rise - so lucky,
so he can now afford a holiday, but it now has to be term time as Kyle is now in school.
So expensive, etc. etc.

My son has to go half board or he has a problem with his budget, he never gets it right!!
So next year its the Athina on the 29th July for a couple of weeks - it will make a change anyway. Also they won't have to worry about food.
We did stay at the Athina when it first opened, but we prefer S/C and eating out - but we'll see how it goes.

How is the Beach holding up this year, any change to the shifting sands??

lizzie:

THE WINDS HAVE BEEN SO STRONG - THE WATER SPORT SIGN , THE LIFE GUARD POST AND THE RAFS ARE EITHER IN ALBANIA OR ITALY NOW.
I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS SO MUCH ROCK UNDER THE SAND AND WE'VE BEEN HERE FOR 10 YEARS.   WINDY TODAY AGAIN BUT WARM .

lizzie:

       HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYBODY

SANTA BROUGHT   THUNDER-RAIN-HAILSTONES TO US IN SAN STEFANOS  AND HAS TAKED ALL THE WATER FROM THE HOUSES TO WASH HIS SLEIGH

       HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL
