Where to stay
« on: February 10, 2011, 01:36:19 PM »
We have stayed at Nikos (Athens Bar for the past four years and normaly book before we come home,we didn't do that last year as we could not get the weeks we wanted. We are looking at either Olga or Little Prince this year but someone commented that they used to stay at Olga but appts have become a bit dated, Has anyone got any information that might be helpful.

Don't know about Olga, but we stayed at Little Prince for 2 weeks in 2009 and 5 weeks in 2010 - and very much enjoyed it. The rooms are quite big - towels changed nearly every day and sheets at least twice a week. Dimitris, Mixalis and Pippina are lovely, and it's a short stagger upstairs after a good meal and a few jugs of vino. There's free WiFi in the bar area - Dimitris was hoping to put some additional transmitters upstairs, but I'll be surprised if it happens any time now.

The pool is away from the road and sheltered from even a strong NW wind.

The satellite feed to the rooms is not brilliant - no Sky - but on a good day and after a bit of nudging you can get BBC World.

LP is only available through Thomson and First Choice - that may change when they finish the new block.

If you need any more - ask away!

Thanks Jimbo, thats really helpful. We have had a few meals at the Little Prince and had a look around the pool area but we never got to look at any of the rooms. I think I will just about manage the stairs after a few Mythos.

I'll see if I can find some room pictures.

The lift stops at midnight, so heavy-duty Mythos consumption needs half an eye on the watch.

Little Prince is nice but expensive compared to some - lots of choice there, either via Thomson's or independent, check out Noula's site - or Fedre-Mare etc
Barras - older but nice big apts, Pele and Maria's - lots of quality places to stay - right in the centre or just outside it.

LP has 3 floors. Never been higher than 1, which is pool level.

Stayed there once, in room over top of entrance. Just along from pool bar.
Nice room - still can't understand why it's the most expensive now though.

Actually, Athina, Thomas Bay and Kaloudis are substantially dearer. LP is pretty much in the middle.

Pembo - if you are booking independant there are a few apartments which are now available to book this way if you PM me I can send through some direct email addresses and websites, it really depends when you want to go as well as to availability and prices.

when we booked and last checked a month ago, the Athina at Half Board was actually cheaper than L Prince, room only
I guess it's a Thomson way of steering guests to Hotels to get minimum bookings taken up, then the Pricing policy changes.

Thanks everyone for your help, we would have gone for Athina or Thomas Bay if there had ony been 2 of us but there are now 3 of us so it does become more expensive with having to pay single room supplement. We have now booked LP. The total cost was  not much more than what we paid last year by booking independantly, although we were getting a good deal from Nikos, for the appartment we were paying a lot more for flights. Roll on 26 August.

You are right about the price of flights, with the extra Gov/tax flights - even EJ etc, are all expensive now!

You will be well looked after at The Little Prince, we're on our fourth visit in June! I think you'll be on the first floor as I believe the upper levels are booked out to TUI Nordic. Enjoy.
