flying into corfu
Jules:
I love the day flights as there is lots to see from 32000+ feet
Jimbo:
I wouldn't worry too much. Most of the YouTube videos on the web are actually recordings of amateur pilots using Microsoft Flight Simulator and attempting heroic landings in jets far too big to use the runway. You wouldn't want to see any recordings of me doing this: I've managed to land a micro-light and a single engine prop trainer, but I have totalled Corfu Town many times trying to land a virtual 737! As far as I can find out out, the last crash at Corfu was 40 years go.
I really like the final approach to Corfu. Depending on the wind, the approach to Corfu takes you down the west coast of the island, passed Ag Stefanos and Paleokastritsa. Need to be on the left hand side for this. Either way the views of the Albanian mountains are wonderful.
The only problem with the airport is bad weather - it doesn't have an Instrument Landing System. Given that Doncaster/Sheffield's new ILS is costing £1,000,000, I can't see this happening any time now!
So don't panic. I won't be flying the plane!
don:
Never had any hang up over flying but had some hairy moments. These I wouldn't type here but any time over a carafe of wine.... Definitely ! No friends will book until they know what flight I'm on !!!
