Last minute to Barras Appts!

(1/4) > >>

Sellsy:
Last minute deal on the web last night sees us abandoning our planned ( and booked!) holiday to Cala Galdana in Menorca in favour of a cracking deal for the last two week in July at the Barras appts. We are self catering this time around and the switch to SS is part driven by the latest reports of sky high prices for both eating out  and the self catering  basics in Galdana. Prices seem so much better in SS, so much so we have took the hit by giving up our flights and a hefty accommodation deposit to divert  to San Stef. We have stayed at the Romanza on a previous visit,  this will be our first time at the Barras, we wondered if anyone had any news, views or advice especially on the self catering aspects,we imagine a 50 / 50 split between eating in and out, tight budget so any creative ideas welcome!!

Jimbo:
We quite often take a cool-bag with boiled eggs, tomatoes, fruit and some bread to the beach for lunch. Saves quite a lot for two over a couple of weeks.

Sellsy:
Hi Jimbo, sounds like a plan, we have a good cool bag and freezer packs etc, just hope the Barras has a decent fridge with ice box, does anyone know? It's not crucial but the ice packs take up space and weight in the cases, waste of time if no freezer box! Like the idea of fresh bread picnic etc I think we are right next to a bakery so daily fresh rolls should be the order of the day!

swedebasher:
I believe there is some sort of a rule that you must not take meat products in( EU rule 2843-ignored) but we all do!! ;D

Gavlah1973:
Ha Sellsy!!!

Enjoy it! Shame as I was looking forward to your reports on Cala Caldana as it's somewhere we've fancied! A mate of mine has just come back from Son Bou and he said eating out was ok.......described as pretty much on a par with Kefalonia last year
