The dog at the Pizza restaurant
« on: October 15, 2011, 10:31:33 PM »
Can anybody please put me out of my misery and re-assure me that the dog at the Pizza restaurant (near the Barras) does in fact live there and will be ok during winter. I absolutely fell in love with him while I was there and he came for a walk with me every day. He looks like a german shepherd cross and is black and tan.
Thanks
Gaynor

I asked around around and if it's the same dog, it does'nt belong to the Pizza -  Town Pizza althougth he does get fed regularly and as they are open during the winter he should be okay as long as he doesn't continue to chase mopeds and others along the road......

I hate it when you get attached to a dog or a cat whilst away and then all you do when you get back is worry about whether they are getting fed and whether they are alright.  When we went back this year to Kef, the kittens we fed last year all came back to our balcony again so I know they were ok through the winter, which cheered me up.

Have just got back from Crete and made friends with 3 dogs which were guard dogs across from our hotel.  We fed them every night and now I wonder if they are ok like you Gaynor.

I know, I try so hard not to get involved, but it all started one night when I gave him 1/2 a lamb shank, as it was way too much for me. I then had a friend for life.
Just hope he's ok.

    AH HA!  THERE YOU ARE.
                  " Megalos Alexandros "   ( Alexander the great )
I hope this puts your mind at rest - he was dumped last year . He is at the moment sleeping in the sun on our balcony after having spag. bol.. His time is divided between our house and town pizza.

                Thanks for caring ,
                                           Lizzie

Hi Lizzie
just read you're other thread. Hope he is ok and a big thankyou to you for caring. I went to san Stef for the first time last year and would love to come back later this year, absolutly fell in love with the place and Alexandra. he used to come for walks with me in the morning and on my last night had his paws on my shoulders. He knew I was going home !!
Thanks again

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but don't want you to get upset when you are here.
Megalos Alexandros is no longer with us- he was getting better after the last "upset" but last week he was very sick. I tried to get help for him but not having transport i could not get to the vet. 2 days later he was gone. No pain just faded away.
I miss him very much he was such a baby . It was hard .
                                          Thank you for caring,
                                                     Lizzie

Hi Lizzie
really sad news although not totally unexpected.
I will always have very fond memories of him though, we did some lovely walks together.
Thanks for letting me know though otherwise I would have been looking for him.

I remember that dog, he seemed to frequent the area around mythica, pizza place and up to Ozzie Oil and 3Ws, seemed tame and friendly with  people who took  any interest in him, big strong looking thing from what I recall. Sad story but seems as though he had a decent spot there at San Stef.

Sorry to hear that, I am also sad as my favourite dog died last month from Pancriatic cancer, and she wasn't that old either.
It was like losing one of the family.

Ah Tony, know how you feel. I have 3 dogs, 2 Collies and a Shi Tzu. I did think about bringing Alexandra home to the UK. But however short his life was, I think he enjoyed his freedom and would not have been happy cooped up in a small house.
My last memory of him is him with his paws on my shoulders the night before I was going home and me telling him to be careful.
Vey sad X

I crossed a bulldog with a Shi Tsu once and guess what I ended up with?
