Yes my description of everywhere else being dead was a bit harsh for as you say some tavernas in the villages are open.
Actually when we stayed in Corfu town we went to a taverna in a village about 4 miles away and had a great night, Greek food, Greek dancing the lot.
It was weird being at a Greek taverna with a roaring fire but it felt really cosy and the food was truly fantastic.
Oh and guess who was running the taverna and taking part in some impromtued Greek dancing...... Pavlos from zorbas!!!
