Just returned - part2
chrissie d:
As promised my write up of our 5th visit to San Stefanos. We stayed for 2 weeks from 19th July,at Little Prince .Everything was fantastic as usual,I do love the rooms, clean and the powerful showers.Wonderful welcome from Dimitris when we arrived in the taxi, and the same welcome from everybody else in the restaurant in the evening. The beach -our regular spot was in front of the Athina ,2 euro voucher to use at the snack bar was useful, but mostly had lunch or takeaway at juice bar.Our daughter love Sandra,s scone ,jam and cream.A couple of times I had a late breakfast with the new item on the menu raisin toast ,with a frappe.I love sat there ,watching the world go by,and chatting with Shane,Sandra and Gwen ,lovely people.I don,t know if anybody else witnessed this, but the first weekend on the beach a large group of men woman and children turned up mid morning and parked themselves at the back of the beach ,quite close to other holidaymakers on the sun beds.I,ve never heard people talk so loudly even while out in the sea.i think they were Eastern European and not Greek. While nodding off on the sunbed got woken up by one of the men shouting as he returned to the beach carrying to plastic bags which I thought contained lunch.Wrong they contained turtles from the stream ,which the kids started to play with, but that did,nt last for long because of the looks they were getting they returned them to the stream. Eating out - Little Prince, Zorbas because our daughter loves the dancing good food as well.Ozzy Oil ,Yannis on arillas road and Waves where we watched a beautiful sunset. Also had a few ice creams at Grande Gelato on the Main Street.Lovely ,freshly made on the premises ,my husband enjoyed the fig one. Drinks - before dinner Princess bar or silver star ,after dinner at Acabar, with a great welcome from Dimitris and Lia .Think I saw Jimbo a couple of times but too shy to say hello. Our daughter went to Hippopots on the Main Street ,where she painted a ceramic flip flop a unique souvenir of her holiday ,ran by two lovely people who had moved to corfu from Wiltshire.Already planning to book for next year, as it,s our 25th wedding anniversary and I don,t think I would want to spend it anywhere else.Met a lot of people this year going to san stefanos for the first time and were probably going to return. Flights out and returning good ,but chaos at gatwick baggage reclaim, waited for over an hour usually 25 mins.Tannoy announcement due to earlier electrical storm !Roll on next year.

Awwww - That's a shame! Maybe next time???
Karen:
I think that was the same large group of people we saw at the end of our holiday! We were down 'nudie end' before you walk around the large cliffs and these people, mostly all wearing white hats, started appearing from around the corner. There must have been in excess of 50 people! No problem to us though, as they appeared to be leaving the beach!
Jimbo:
Maybe I'm old and stupid (Ed: Maybe?) but if you're going to flaunt the delicate bits, surely wearing a hat is a concession to to the power of sunlight, but not applying it to those nethers (Is nethers an actual word?: ED)? is OK for girls because unless they're exceptionally lucky their nether bits are tucked away and protected until the (temporary) key to the jewel box is granted.
My (probably ridiculous) view is that if you want to be a child of the sun, wearing a floppy hat whilst flaunting a reproductive organ is seriously naff.
BAJ:
A strange lot at the nudie end we concluded. As we were at the end of the beach by Thomas boat hire we observed that the people walking past wearing by far the most clothes headed down to the nudist end, stripped off and later walked back wearing numerous layers again! Perhaps they are actually shy and body conscious?
