Panorama restaurant Afionas
« on: August 13, 2013, 02:25:14 AM »
Just returned from our two weeks at the Romanza. As we hired a car for a few days we passed by a restaurant called Panorama in Afionas. We stopped for a look and the views were amazing so booked a table for that evening. Have to say the food and views at sunset were beautiful. Can highly recommend it if you can get there http://www.panoramacorfu.com/restaurant/index.html

Hi, yes Afionas is a beautiful  village, we always walk from Sans Stefanos to Afionas every time we are on holiday, it is such a lovely walk. We usually have lunch at the Panorama but this year for a change we tried the new restaurant which is accessible through the houses/tiny street when you pass the village square, brilliant views, friendly staff and equally brilliant food. Afionas is really worth a visit.

Hi.we always hire a quad for a day and head over to afionas for our breakfast.we go to dionysos which is right on the headland looking over st george.if you go up to the top of the main road where the bus turns around, you we see a small track on your left, just past the church.follow that to the end and you will find Dionysos.it has its own apartments and a lovely restaurant.www.dionysoscorfu.com  if anybody wants to take a look. From there we head down to St George and take the small road up the mountain to Makrades, roads in bad condition but take your time and you will be ok.Lots of coaches go to Makrades as it a place famous for its home made wine and olives.

Oh my word Rilo57, that restaurant and its views look fantastic. Must have one of the best locations in Europe never mind Corfu, thanks for sharing.

We have also been to the Dionysos for lunch.  We walked one day up to Arillas and then up the hills to Afionas.  The Dionysos is fantastic then after we had our meal we walked down to Porto the twin beaches of Afionas which are back to back with crystal clear waters.  It is quite a rocky stroll down.  We were told it would take 10-15 minutes but that was Greek time it actually took us 25/30 minutes but well worth it. We then walked back to SS - Fantastic day.

For those who aren't convinced - take a look at this:

You can see why it's been inhabited for many thousands of years.

I wish Noula would organise a couple of trips to Afiones.A morning trip would give you time to amble round the village and take in the views, have lunch
and return to San Stefanos in the afternoon. An evening excursion would also be lovely, watching the sun go down and the lights come on around
St George's Bay while enjoying an evening meal.
It's too far for us to walk there now,we've been by taxi but it works out expensive.
Come on Noula how about adding that to your itinerary I'm sure you would get plenty of interest.

We always go on a quad bike but a coach trip sounds a good idea. I know other people not on here would also think so.

Yes, Cerys - but dupnica does have a point. A trip in the goddessmobile would help those who are legless - which is probably 99%!
