For those who don't know, George who used to virtually live at the Tsaros Pool bar, died last week.
George was an English ex pat who has lived in San Stefanos for years.
This summer he was featured in the San Stef travel newspaper.

What a terrible shame. I used to love having an afternoon pint and chat with George (and David) at the Tsaros pool bar.

 Sad news Gavlah 1973 , saw him last September at Tsaros , made me think of the memorial stones by the chapel on the headland, people who loved San Stef , some of them a lot younger than me , who are no longer with us. As my father used to say ,Do what you can while you can, as you are a long time dead.   R I P George

Such sad news, we had a great time in 2010 chatting to George every night at Tsaros over a drink or two, he had some very interesting tales to tell, at the time he was awaiting the arrival of his mobility scooter. Rest in peace George.xx

We are all deeply saddened by Georges passing, he was a vibrant character among our community, a friend to everyone, and will be sorely missed. As mentioned previously he was featured as a San Stefanos Addict in this years issue of Sun, Sea &...San Stef where he gave an insight into his personal experiences of San Stefanos. My little boy wasn't quite 2 when we stayed at the Tsaros in late June.
He could only really say 2/3 definite words.
He used to sit in his pram at the bar next to George.
One day we were in the apartment and he saw George picture in the San Stefanos paper. He took his dummy out and clear as day shouted "George"
That was it for the rest of the holiday..... everytime he saw him........ "George"

So sad to hear this, and no chats with him in the Tsaros bar in the future. He seemed in good fettle when we saw him in late September.

He has been buried at the British Cemetry in Corfu Town which is a beautiful tranquil place amid the flowers and gardens which are kept immaculate by the gardener there. A lovely resting place.

That is nice to know. Must pay a visit next year. So George will be tended by George the gardener!!
