What you get on a credit card is the Interbank Exchange Rate, which is always a but higher than what you can get cash for.

Another great day today. Wonderful on the beach. For long periods of time we were the only ones in the sea between the little river and the old harbour. Mistral made a special lunch for us, because it's not longer on the menu. What lovely kindness. It's those little touches that make this place special.

People we know on the beach year after year were ecstatic about the meal they had in Yianni's last night, as others have been. Off to the new Manthos this evening.
Pleased to hear you are enjoying your holiday Jim. Mistral is a lovely place to have lunch and the staff always cheerful and helpful. We have known Spiros, one of the waiters, since he was a thirteen year old boy working at Manthos' and George the chef is the son of Kostas who used to have sunbeds on the beach.

Wating to hear your verdict on the new Manthos Restaurant as it's now called.

Yes - Spiros et al are great.

"New Manthos" was very nice, and it was lovely to see Vasillis after several years. Gillie had swordfish and I hae beef kokinisto, both beautifully-cooked and presented. The sunset was divine, with subtle watercolour hues for an hour after the star had descended. Just the faintest of breezes.

Today was hot and cold: hot sun and cool air coming in from the NE across Erikousa, so we walked up the hill to Akrotiri, which as always was stunning. Shared a "raw" salmon salad, which had a delicious hot chilli dressing and chatted to Nikos, who used to be at Nafsika. Not very busy there - usual multi-national clientelle, but far fewer Germans than usual; maybe the Bhuddist centre was out on a meditative trip somewhere, or possibly seeking peace in the calm sea at Arillas.

Going to Yiannia and Vaso's this evening, and looking forward to it.

Love to all.

I assume Gillie quivered for a few seconds after all these years. I know Mhairi did.....made me feel slightly helpless, lol  ;D
