It's because the Bank of England will not raise interest rates, amongst other things.

According to some expert exchange watchers who make their money betting on the rate going up or down they believe the rate for the euro in 3 to 6 months time will be between 1.42 and 1.44. Seems unlikely when the paper's are full of gloom and doom in China etc but if it can go down so quickly it can go up just the same.

I hope they're right, I'm  beginning to wish I'd bought some Euros last Autumn when the rate was higher.

Is it really worth worrying about? Either buy when you think the rate has peaked, or stop worrying and get them just before you leave. The actual cash difference can be quite small. Just avoid buying at the airport!

Have to agree with you Rover. The amount we get usually buys us a free meal in the village as it were!

If I changed Ł2000 at today's rates I would get 174 Euros less than in June last year.Don't know where you eat in Agios Stefanos but that's a lot more than I spend on a meal. I'm not worrying about it Rover but I'll keep an eye on the rate and we never buy at the airport.

We never need 2K for our SS break, but obviously the more you change, the greater swing in value, and the more care you need to take on when to make the purchase. I know not where Swedebasher eats in SS.

Ł2000 sounds a lot I know but we paid for accommodation out of that and we took extra because we couldn't rely on getting cash out of the ATMs We didn't spend it all and managed to bring a few hundred home with us which went towards the September holiday.
