The Busses...

(1/3) > >>

bluenosejock1:
Hi all, so we have been returning to San Stef for a good few years now and done all the trips. We were thinking about braving the local busses (green and blue) to visit near by parts if the Island. We tried this a few years ago and it was an experience shall we say  :o

I know there was a timetable at the stop near Thomas Bay but has anyone done the trip in to Sidari and back and found it ok ? Or what other areas have you visited using the infamous bus service ?  ???

BarbaraG:
We went to Sidari by bus a couple of years ago. The return bus was late, which wouldn't normally matter, except there was a torrential storm raging and nowhere to shelter at Sidari. Got absolutely soaked! Luckily staying at Tereza's, so got off right outside the hotel and went in for a hot shower and change of clothes! Another nice trip we did was to catch the bus to Avliotes, lunch at a fab restaurant called Ilias Taverna, then walked back to SS, all downhill.

Hmm, this was what worried me. The reliability of the Service. Quite fancy going to other areas nearby for a meal and explore but worried about the Bus not turning up etc. Oh well, you only live once eh  ;D

Jimbo:
The local buses have been extraordinarily punctual over the last few years. We've watched the buses closely from various balconies and tavernas for a long time. It's what sad old people do to bring a little excitement into their lives. Before lunch, we celebrate the ten o'clock bus as it goes up the harbour and back. We sit, timetable in hand, discussing whether that tiny speck up the hill is a Thomas Cook coach or the bus to Sidari. The hiss of the brakes and the muted clunk of the doors is music to our ears.

The local bus service is brilliant.

Carolg:
Never tried the buses. Where do you get a timetable from and what routes do they do?
