Is it really you?
« on: November 06, 2017, 08:16:39 PM »
There was an article in The Mail today re."celebs we'd like to fly with".Adele came top of the list of people most holidaymakers would like to sit next to on a plane. Got me thinking how many of us have come across someone well known either at the airport or on our flight.
To set the ball rolling, when we flow out of Stansted in September, Joanna Lumley was standing outside with a friend having a cigarette.
She's someone I would like sitting next to me, I love her travel shows and she was so funny in Ab Fab. Unfortunately she wasn't on our flight.
A few years ago we encountered Ian Lavender in the departure lounge in Corfu airport.

In my long career as a screenwriter I've dwelt with and flown with a lot of well-known actors. On average they are not very interesting unless people like me write the dialogue for them. They also value the few hours on a plane when they don't have to act their public persona.

We writers, of course, are endlessly fascinated with people, and will get your life story out of you before you've reached cruising altitude. And tell you nice gossipy things.

Hi Jim hope you are fully recovered now.  I'm not suggesting that they have to be actors or singers, they could be anyone, perhaps some historical figure, let your imagination run riot.

Thanks! I'm in better shape than a seventy-five-year-old fossil deserves.

I'd settle for 3 hours on a TUI flight from Doncaster to Corfu with Stephen Hawking.

James Bolam played Grandpa in my Pocket but he's better known as Terry from the Likely Lads to us of a certain age!

Don't remember Grandpa in my Pocket, was it a children's programme? As I am "of a certain age" I do remember the Likely Lads.
