Is it worth booking

Insurance companies beware is what I would say. I would hate to think how much we paid out for insurance over the years. I’ve not checked, but suspect it is actually less these days per year. However, being reasonably fit and healthy (not that it covers you) for my age, I would consider simply ignoring holiday insurance and covering the risk for ourselves. We did this for almost 10 years and may well do so again. Of course if we had underlying health issues I would think differently, there again I/we would likely simply not travel.

Jimbo:
I think one problem is that we have taken EHICs for granted for a very long time. I shall be writing to my MP asking requesting that she raise the EHIC issue as an urgent matter to relevant ministers. Up until December 31st, if you stagger off the old harbour wall after a night at the Athens Bar and get multiple fractures, you will be hospitalised for nothing; not so next year, as things stand. In those circumstances - ignoring Covid-19 issues - private health insurance seems to me a necessity.

I was on a sailing course on Kefalonia some years ago, and one of the men in the group was asked what he did for a living. He was an actuary. Asked by many to explain, he said " I work out death cover insurance rates." He'd downed a few Amstels, and perhaps foolishly, added "Basically my job is to rip people off."

Sums it up for me!

James:
I work for the NHS.  I would not dare to book this year, my workmates would not be impressed.

We have worked many hours to keep you all safe.

Don’t get me wrong l would love to have gone this year.  But l will wait.

James:
Forgot to mention I’m new on here.

For those of you who are going this year, keep safe.  If you can isolate on your return that might be a good idea.  Mainly applicable to those that are retired.

Jimbo:
Spot on James - and welcome!
