The optimism of marketing departments knows no bounds.

I had a pretty blue email from TUI this morning, complete with pictures of Corfu. In large print is said:

"It's only 272 days until your holiday. Don't leave it too late to book one of our fabulous excursions!"

Brilliant

At least we have all kept our sense of humour. Or is it more a case of if we don't  laugh we will cry?  ;D ;D

It's definitely our sense of humour, Diane :)

Haha  Karen yes it must be and we definitely do need a sense of humour with everything that is happening and to top it all the rain.  :) Even so I feel incredibly lucky to just be getting wet (extremely) walking my grandson to school when we see how some people have suffered so much from the flooding.   :'(

We've had almost no rain in Hull. I may have to water the runner beans!

It's true! They're still producing beans. We picked 34 beans this morning, with more not quite ready. We've been dispensing beans to beanless neighbours and friends, making us some kind of bean charity. No more tomatoes, but all our crop ripened, and we've made apple chutney using next door's excellent windfalls, and mint jelly with those and our own mint. Mind you, the whole house smells of vinegar! More chutney to come.

Yesterday ended our 96 hours of non-stop rain, ranging from drizzle to torrential. Rained again today and more due tomorrow and Thursday. Throw in the continued nightmare of lockdown and its a struggle to keep any degree of optimism, energy and motivation.

So so sorry to hear you feeling so down, TB. Not like you. I guess we've all had enough, and it looks like we have plenty more to come.

I remain on the whole reasonably cheerful because I have lots to do. Doing nothing depresses me - I'm not good at it.

We're all with you. Happy to have a chat via Skype or Zoom if you want - just send me a PM.

Thank you Karen, Winkie and Jimbo but I'm okay. Just having a few off days what with this weather, the damn virus and the selling of my dads house and all that that entails.

You wouldn't believe how much stuff two people can accumulate when living in the same house for 57 years. It's taken my younger sister and I over 10 days to clear out the house, shed and greenhouse which included 6 appointed trips to the waste recycling site and 2 "large item" council collections. The stuff they kept. My dad used to say "if it doesn't eat or drink don't throw it away as you may need it". The thing is I used to criticise my dad for it but I find I do the same. Strange.

On a brighter note I met my best mate today, socially distanced of course, and we've decided to meet in our garden this Saturday (going to be dry apparently) and light the fire pit and have a few sherberts.  :D
