walk to akrotiri
« on: September 17, 2020, 04:22:46 PM »
Which is the best way to walk to Akrotiri from the village? Looking at google maps, there appears to be several "tracks" from the village, plus a road opposite Town Pizza-which would you recommend ? Factors to bear in mind are : I whine a lot when I'm hot and hate to walk up really steep hills!  ;D

Well , that rules most out then  ;D ;D ;D. Definitely I found the Tsaros route the most challenging, my word its steep, but most picturesque in my opinion. One up beside Fantasea, is the shortest route to the top I think, but furthest from Akrotiri, one opposite or nearby Barras is pretty rough, but doable in good footwear, if I were you, just sit in a bar a watch the the sweat run down your body whilst drinking a chilled Mythos  ;D ;D ;D
If its not one thing, its your mother.

Easiest is the rural track near Yianni and Vaso, we think. Long slowish climb.

Up by Tsaros is steep. Great for the evening if you are staying at Tsaros, because it's not far to the top.

Road next to Nafsika (between Nafsika and Kamini) is partly steep, but not too bad.

Akrotiri is so wonderful it's well worth the climb!

You almost kiss the road if you go up the route between Nafsika and Kamini, but that and the Tsaros are closest. I would go via the latter and perhaps stop off at the Tsaros bar if open for a water ;) ;)

We have used three different routes up top. All quite steep. Yesterday we used the one by Town Pizza to get to Arillas and then decided to go all the way to Afionas. Seemed daft at the time but was a lovely day.

We prefer the Tsaros route up. It's a short sharp shock but at least it's tarmac and you can take your time!

Thanks all of you-I will put all these to Steve and see which he thinks-he has done the walk up and over to Arillas in a previous (wife-free) life so we'll see how long he thinks he can tolerate my moaning for!  ;D
Of course if he really loved me he would give me a piggy back up the hill...

You could always let him walk up, say you'll follow soon, and sneakily get a taxi!
