Avliotes - who has tried out the village.

Just a thought - I remember with great fondness, about 15 years ago now, being invited to Nikos's (of Golden Beach), house in the village.
Looking fairly ordinary on the outside, in the main street - it was spectacular inside, full of marble, Italian furniture and great views to the rear. After some nibbles, we went to a local taverna overlooking what used to be an almost triangular piece of land, (it now houses a lovely bandstand).
In this piece of land was a kind of gravel football pitch - with just one goal at the wide end.
We watched the local kids play a game while we ate, they had an understanding - their own kind of rules, and shared the goal.
Great fun to watch and the meal was both v/cheap and v/v/good.
I can't remember the name of this Taverna, above what is now the bandstand, does anyone remember what it's called?
Also does anyone remember the strange football pitch from years ago?

Sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Long before my time. Probably that long ago I was in short trousers!
Jules:
Never made it to Avliotes. Last time we tried walking and got a lift back to SS before managing to get there by Sue and John (or should I say rescued). Boy were we glad to see them. :) We hadn't taken any water with us as we didn't expect it to take as long as it was. This year we will go on Quads and probably lunch there. :) 8)
Brisey:
We always have a walk up to Avliotes when visiting San Stef. We have lunch and a few drinks in the taverna overlooking the area mentioned. If I recall correctly the taverna is named The Vines.
