Some people are very rude and allow smoke to waft over to you table!!
I'm all right jack (or jack-boot), is the attitude - I hate smoke anywhere near me, it seems to trigger a slight ashma reaction in me.
When I see someone smoking a huge Corona Cigar - I am tempted to shove it back up the owners Jacksy, where it came from!!

as Jasper Carrot once said - "Do you mind if I smoke?"
"not at all, do you mind if I fart?"

I could do that!!!!

As Jasper said about Porno mags...... "Why are they on the top shelf? Why not on the middle one with the rest of the DIY?"

Linda used to be a smoker, and in those days I didn't seem too bothered by it, she was very slim and a size 8, then almost 20 years ago, she had a heart attack, which kinda focuses your mind a little!
She was very Lucky and while in intensive care in Hillingdon Hospital,
Dr. Charles Isley, a Consultant (now head of) Harefield Hospital, was doing his weekly 1 day at the Hillingdon, and took up her case.
It was deemed by tests, to be caused mainly by cigarette smoke - carbon monoxide (because of a DNA family history thing), irritated the linings of her arteries and this (combined with a higher than normal cholestral reading), attracted the "bad" cholestral to stick to the arterial lining, especially leading to the heart and "Boom-Boom". Linda's blockage was at the rear of the heart, which was less usual, which is why Isley was interested, and she became a "Guinea Pig" (No swine flu jokes please), She was the 11th person world wide at the time to have a stent fitted in the Artery, it was expected to last around 6 years and every time she went for her annual check-up, it made them all excited to see the stent prove to be good, year after year.
in the 12th year she had a bit of a Angina (no "V" in angina Don-LOL), eventually, Isley decided to re-stent her and she had 2 stents fitted, one inside the original, this has (touch wood), cleared the problem and the new stents were re-designed with a special coating these days and designed to last many years now, anyway, a bit of history to explain why Linda as an ex-smoker - now hates  cigarettes with a passion and is far worse than me (and I am BAD!!), - she hates the smell of cigarettes on clothes, etc.
But she also has the experience of knowing that her "Smoker" father and all his siblings died in their 40's from heart-attacks, so she knows the possibilities of self harm from smoking and the danger people just don't think about.
Me - I just hate the smell (as Don pointed out), of people who simply stink like old ashtrays, and rudely allow disgusting smoke to pollute your space and force you to breath it in.
Sorry to any smokers - but you just don't realise how awful it really is to be close to you -
as non-smokers - - we are far too polite in the UK, really we should call out the fire brigade and hose you lot down!!
Of course I believe in freedom of choice, so smoke if you have to - but be polite and walk outside for a smoke!!
Thanks - got it off my chest now!! LOL  :o

We were in Zante and, looking back, boy did I look ill...anyway, within a week of getting home,I had mine, the scariest 48 hours of my life, I had no problem packing it in, it was a case of a life threatening incident to quit something that was threatening my life. The funny thing though was I never smoked in restaurants, tavernas were different,  being out doors.

Luckily I never needed any op,although I occasionelly get angina,it's not too bad.Hills are the worse, and we have a few of them in Wales ;)..the worse thing is the palps I get , hence the Warfarin, and, now Type 2,it's a challenge ha ha, and there I am eating a typically Med diet, weird

Sometimes it's just bad luck - the Genes like Linda. She used to eat lettuce and salads mostly but the cholestral was 9.7 - caused by her own Liver making it, plus the smoking!! Now its managed and down to under 5!!, however she was on the Warfarin as well for 6 months at the start - she used to bruise badly just by slightly knocking almost anything, worse still - she would tell friends - My husband did it!! LOL!!!

Would just like to say well done to Linda for realising the fags can do damage as well and having you right behind her spurring her on. Sometimes it just takes someting like Lindas heart attack to make you realise how lucky us none smokers are for not smoking and adding to any possible hereditry thing that may be lurking within us. Lots of good health to all of us. :)
