Cockney in Hull:
--- Quote from: don on June 05, 2009, 10:58:56 AM ---The entertainment is pretty low key. Silver Star , Bar 38 , Thomas Bay & 3W's generally have some live acts on. Condor has dead ones like Elvis and Ol' Blue Eyes. Thomas Bay, Condor & Bar 38 have some Quiz nights. Thomas Bay has bingo but not as you've played it before! Karaoke takes place at Condor or Thomas Bay.
Can't/Daren't speak for Sandra but I'm 58 though that is just a statistic controlled by my birth certificate and will see and make friends there with anyone from teens to eighties!
Our perfect night is to stretch our evening meal out for a few hours over a glass or two of wine then move on somewhere to enjoy a few drinks, good company and pleasant conversation.

I can sing like a dead one, Does that count? :D

DON has put the original run down very well!! I don't know what you expect from San Stefanos, but it's not Las Vegas!!
The age ranges from babies through to the almost dead with partial Rigor Mortis (could that be Zimmer)?
I mean I am slightly older than you - but actually seem to be a lot younger - I am 28 as well - just my body thats not!!
It's for families or couples generally, although there are a few singles who comfortably fit in.
There are teens and all ages of kids with families, there are 'generally' never any 18-30 club lager louts or ladette types around.
Lots of 20's 30's 40's 50's and above as well. Lots more oldies go in May and October, then it's a nice mix!
Our best night out is chatting with friends over a meal and a glass of - *** whatever!
The entertainment is good sometime and bad others, I have seen magic shows, tribute singers and bands, and some very good ones at that, last year we saw Bob Marley, Freddie Mercury, George Michael = all brilliant
We saw a transvestite Drag show - funny and so-so!, then there's the Hypnotist show - mediocre, the Hypno-man then re-generated the following week as Frank Sinatra - (CR*P), we've had the rat pack, live music at the WWW - quite OK, Some tired old git crooning at the Silver Star, who reminded me of a singing "Jim Bowen" of Bullseye TV-show!, A fantastic Greek couple who do live music at the Sunset Taverna on a Sat or Sunday evening, some bouzouki/greek - some country music - but brilliant!
Nightly Greek dancing by waiters in the Little Prince and Zorba's, Greek nights at the Barras on a wed, and other Taverna's including Manthos Taverna & Terezas. Nightly Dancing to disco in the Condor - all ages go there - it's not a teen club! All enjoy it!
Hot music in the Athens Bar - a younger set sometimes, Bar 38 has live music, entertainers such as "BIG" Tim - nice talented little fellow!
In other words - you should find something you like if you walk around and check out the venues!
Lots of restaurants with cool background music and chilled atmosphere good for conversation.
It is going slightly more commercialised in the approach these days, so if you want a traditional spit and sawdust old greek taverna, you may have to travel outside of the village a touch, but seriously, who really wants that these days!!
S S is all about relaxed friendly entertainment and chilled nights out!!
Zimmer:
I definately dont want Las Vegas or social club crooners,Karaoke, tribute bands, hypnotists and magicians - in fact, I'm surprised, there seems to be more going on than I expected.
We like Greek music,"when in greece"[ of course the zimmerframe and pacemaker prevents me doing much dancing these days LOL ] etc. I dont want Frank effin' Sinatra wannabees to be honest.
Nothing like a bit of sawdust I say,a guy playing Greek instrumentals quietly in the corner,a local getting up and singing or,if it has to be in English, stuff like Paul Brady,Michael Hedges,Bruce Cockburn, and for the oldies Neil Young and Jackson Browne [ not even I expect others to share my taste in Bob Dylan ],thats my musical background. The 18 year old, of course, likes bands like Snow Patrol and The Killers...anyway, Tone, dont have preconceived notions ;D I may be a lot "younger" than this board would suggest, thats why the internet is a poor communication tool [information is different] you can never tell ;) not being an extrovert is not necessarily "old" :D
I think most of us like to do as you and Don do, nice meal, wine, watch the world go by and chill out, sometimes entertainment augments that ambience sometimes it just gets in the bloody way ;D [ Magicians? yuk! ]
