Hmmmm .......... I'm originally from Fife actually Don! Luckily I never spoke the broad Fife dialect ( was met with a thick ear if I even tried!  :o)which is probably why I'm understood! But yes, a phrase/translation book would be needed to understand some of them. But at least we never spoke about loons/loonies or quines/quinies!  ???

My Mum was from Fogieloan or Aberchirder if you go by the road signs, although I did look for signs for Fogieloan once  ???
