Wasps in San Stefanos

I've been reading on another site about the number of wasps in Corfu in September.  Are they a problem in San Stefanos?
Some years ago when we were in Thassos they were such a nuisance and we had to eat inside a lot of the time.

We went last September and the wasps were really bad, but we came back last Friday and hardly saw a wasp, so hopefully you will be lucky.

We always go beginning September and there are always wasps about. I even got stung by one a couple of years ago.

I remember Thassos as a waiter in the Thomas Bay but wasps never seemed a problem. The effect he had on all the females was though!

Can you eat outside without getting pestered by them all the time?

We go to SS every September and the wasps are a nuisance. It might sound ridiculous but we use insect repellent on ourselves and spray the sunbeds or the ground around us with Raid this certainly helps keep the wasps away.

Katie they are active in September but not to the extent that they will spoil your meal times outdoors.

Loads of the little blighters, at this time of the year in the Med and surrounding areas. Bad enough here in August/Sept.

Will have to walk round with a jam jar and catch the blighters like I did when I was a kid!

The type of wasp in S S is not very aggressive, so just gently wave them away or ignore them, they only get excited if you jump around waving your arms about like your'e having a fit, or like Don trying to get his wallet out!!

Thank you all for your replies about the wasps.  We have always gone to Greece in June and apart from the one year in Thassos we have never been bothered by wasps.  I'm glad it will still be Ok to eat outside but I think we will take some repellent to use on the balcony or sunbeds in case they become a nuisance.

Don't worry about the wasps they really don't give you any cause for concern, we have stayed in SS in spring, summer and in October. We have never been bothered by any insects there, I'm not sure why could have been my perfume!!!
