Jules:
Hi Pauljaffa and welcome to the friendliest of forums. There are boat trips to the local islands that can be seen from San Stefanos. You can aslo take a boat trio to Paleokastritsa and if you go to Corfu Town there is also a glassbottomed boat trip as well. Not sure of any others but if you go to the San Stefanos Travel website below you will find lots of info as well

Again, Jules is right - I have done the Paleokastritsa trip a few times now - a good trip along the coast.
A nice short trip, land in the harbour and a 10 min walk into the main beach and town, some stalls along the route to look at.
There is a Monastery above the beach (time depending), and lots of small row boats doing the blue caves and grotto trips.
I also recommend the trip to MATHRAKI AND ERICUSA ISLANDS.
ERICUSA is also a trip on it's own.
It's one of 3 local inhabited Islands, this is the longest distance of the three, but lovely, - I would prefer the trip that does both.
but either is not too stressful even for a bad sailor.
As Jules said - it's on Noula's (San Stefanos Travel), website.
Incidently, all tours by Thompson's except one, are covered by Noula and much cheaper, yet still fully insured etc.

Again thanks.
I usually book through local agents - cheaper and only one bad experience. Actually went to Corfu and ths missus had to drive the boat home (with others - went to anti paxos) - 50 people on it! Captain enjoyed his luch too much!

Hi Pauljaffa,
My wife and I stayed in San Stef for the first time last year and we have booked again for this year. On our last day we managed to stay in a room at the Kapetanios (spelling) as we had to vacate our own apartments by 12 noon. We therefore had most of the day and early evening at the Kapetanios. I will be honest and say although the place was not our cup of tea, I do think with a child or children then you have made a good choice.
The restaurants are of a very good quality and not too expensive. The regulars here will be more than willing to assist in any queries. This forum actually was a great help when we first booked. We may bump into you, who knows.
Rod.

Kapetanios Apts are very nice, the only complaint is that it's up a hill.
If you are reasonably fit, you won't really notice the walk up by the end of your first week,
just take it slowly, even very mature people like Jules can manage it - - - LOL
