Title: HELP!!!!
Post by: Nathan on August 11, 2010, 04:40:02 PM
Hi all, my girlfriend and I are travelling to San Stefanos for the first time this year; can anyone tell me what the weather conditions (mainly temperature and rainfall) are generally like in September.

Also, if anyone can advise on good restaurants to visit and maybe ones to avoid that would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Nathan

Hi Nathan. We always go end of Aug and weather always boiling hot even the evenings, what date in Sep are you going and where are you staying. As for places to eat if you go to- Where to eat in SS there is plenty of info, also if you go through forum you will find most things about fantastic SS.

Cheers SS.  We're going from 6th - 21st and are staying at the Voula apartments.  I understand it's a bit of a walk up a steep hill but was just wondering how far away it was from restaurants and bars, etc.

Nathan,

There is an endless supply of information on the official site.  Walks, local info, tavernas, restaurants etc;  However, here is my personal take on San Stef.  There are no burger/kentucky/McDonald joints.  No seedy smelly bars.  No lager louts.  The resort is a totally chill out friendly place, where both locals and tourists are so helpful and friendly to each other.  I am actually finding it difficult to describe the uniqeness of the place.  You have to experience it really.  Here go's;  My personal favourites;

Bars - Bar 38, Greco, Thomas Bay, Aquarius.

Restaurants - All of them (ok then), Olympia, Mythica, Sunset.

Something Different - Gravia and Akrotiri on the cliff side.

Something REALLY different - Hire a quad for 20 euros (best money ever spent)

Hi Nathan,
We'll be there starting on our second week as you arrive,
We tend to call in at Aquarios Bar, or Thomas Bay Hotel Bar to finish the evening off.
Maybe see you there!!

I'm only surprised that Don was so slow in spotting it,
mind you he's been a little quiet lately! LOL
Hello Don - what's going on in your life this week?

Hi Nathan

We stayed at the Voula in August and loved it. The owners Spiros and Maria are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are a good size and are cleaned regularly. There's a real family feel about the place. The hill can be a bit gruelling especially during the day but our kids are 11 and 4 and managed it without too much moaning. It takes about 10 minutes to get to the centre of town and obviously a bit longer going back up, but there is a shorter route through the nearby Romanza Hotel.

As for restaurants, try Zorbas (but watch out for the fire during the Greek dancing), Paradise, The Olive Press, Ozzy Oils. If you want to eat in the pizzas from Town Pizzas are fantastic and they deliver. Try the Town Special.
