Information and help please / Re: Internet Access
« on: May 18, 2009, 11:16:11 PM »
Ohh...laptop pc's remind me of work, dont digi-cameras do the same thing then? or am I missing something? though, no doubt I'll check out the internet caff...can you buy DVD's on the beach? of what?
I think it depends on how much "quality" time is spent on it that the wife may make a comment on.
I have a rather nice Camera as it goes, but until you check the picture on a larger scree, you cannot tell if the photo is fully in focus, or what you wanted - so I find the Laptop a good tool.
I intend to buy a 9" screen Netbook for holiday this year to save lugging the big laptop around.
That way my friends and family can be sent pictures, I can talk free on Skype via webcam,
much cheaper than a phone call (free skype - that is),
and if I buy a DVD from the nice Nigerian Gentleman,
{{said in a Mandella Accent}} "My name is John and I can get you anything"
Ok - I will have the film " XYZABC" {for example} - "I will get it for you tomorrow!!" {yeah! right!}
I picked up a couple of films last year - all of acceptable quality, except one which I gave back, so all
checked & tested on the Lap-top & returned if no good!!

That my friend is why I take a Lap-Top!!
I can never understand why the wife gets upset, she is reading a book,
you are reading a laptop or electrical book. So whats the big deal?
There you go then :) Ive met these Nigerians before :o, I really would be concerned about me getting too wrapped up in the technology and "chat" stuff to the detriment of being on holiday, but I accept we're all different

Nothing in Barras, but plenty at various points of the village. Look out for "connex" and "corfunet" connections and perhaps others. Both these are open (no access key required). So bring your laptop - I have used mine lots. (I am in San Stef now).
May I ask why? your supposed to be on holiday mun - does your missus mind?

Ok - if you cut the aubergine in slices, sprinkle them with salt in a sieve, what happens is that the bitter juices seep out, the aubergine becomes moist and absorbs the taste of the meat better and has lost it's bitter slightly tough taste, after about 1/2 hour wash them, pat dry and then their ready to be cooked..voila:) and cook the moussaka slowly...Zimmers greek cookery tip of the day

Thanks Jules thats the site i have seen. Just wondered its worth a visit.
We are staying for the 2nd year at Angelo's apts which is owned by Angelo at Waves. Saw them brand new in 2007 while we were staying at the Dimitries apts and booked them before leaving for June 2008
Was very impressed, just hope they have been well looked after as the season progressed.
Used to stay at the Rose Gardens but since trying 3 weeks holiday in 2007, 2 weeks just doesnt seem enough anymore.
I'm staying at RG - would be grateful for your views
Thanks ;)

JULES  next saturday we play Arsenal..... Hope it still matters and we can be helpful.............. When we meet I will tell you why I feel that way!!!!!!        Never did until last year!
No wonder I prefer rugby these days!!

Pity you'll miss seeing The B&I Lions out in SS[last game is 4 July ],it'll be a novelty for me, I wonder what the Greeks will make of a Rugby mad Welshman, mad Welshmen are bad enough, but a rugby one?.....I am under strict orders not to have too many :-\

without sounding snobby, making your own has to be better than ready meals that go PING!
On the face of it moussaka should be straightforward,a lasagne without pasta but with aubergine instead [or potato]layers, but Ive yet to make one thats anywhere near authentic - I think it's the cheese sauce that makes it...oh and always salt your aubergine slices for at least half hour in a sieve,or they'll taste 'orrible

Hello  It's me Sue !!!!!

As you will all know from my posts "I don't do mornings"  only the early hours from the day before ;) ;) ;)
I hate getting up before 08:30 on holiday, and then I am tired!! LOL
Hate getting up at 6.30am for work but on holiday thats a differnt matter. Love geting up to see the village "awakening" from the night before. How fresh everything seems. :)

Looks even better when you see it on your way in after a good night!!!
Do you and Mrs Don stay out until the wee hours then? I'm ready for the Horlicks around 11pm or a little balcony nightcap
During the working week we normally go to bed about 11pm but on holiday could be anytime from about 12.30am to 2am.
Oh...I do hope your not the type who slam doors and pull flushes at 2.00 am
