While on the subject, will I be allowed to have my normal handbag as well as my little suitcase? Or do I need to put my wallet etc in my case so I'm just carrying one thing? Not taking hold luggage for our mini break in October.

The answer is no, you are only allowed one item of hand luggage, it depends on how fussy the check in operative is though.
Just put your handbag in the little suitcase before check in and remove it directly after check in, alternatively, put the handbag around your neck and keep the handbag out of view, i.e. under a coat or on your back.

Also at Waves, try the meat or fish Pikilia, like a meze, it's not on the menu but just ask Angelos for it.

It's been said many times on the forum over several weeks now, try Incognito from Amazon, (£7 for 100ml post free) worked well for me, 17 nights and only one bite

Phew! Joined this forum yesterday as going to be visiting San Stefano for the first time next month.

The earlier thread about where we are staying (Romanza) was starting to get a little off-track (!) so thought it might be better to start a fresh one with my queries.

1. How long does it take to get to the beach and the town? (we're fit and relatively young so not afraid of the hills!)
2. Where is the closest place to buy bottled water? (we're getting in really late so a bit worried as to whether anywhere will be open. Not sure how expensive it will be at the Romanza bar)
3. How long does it take to walk to the brewery? (I will be bringing my rucksack to bring a few bottles back)
4. What beers does the Romanza do and what are the beer and food prices like at the hotel?
5. How much does the aircon cost?

It's a last minute holiday so want to do a bit of homework so we can chill as quickly as possible once we get there  :)

Air con is 5 euros a day.

Beer on draught is Mythos and Ionian Gold (from Arillas brewery), this is better, I think than the Mythos as it is far less gassy.  The draught beer is 3 euros a pint.  The Arillas brewery is open for tours on Thursdays and Saturdays between 11.00 and 1.00pm with a barrel of free beer outside. Buying the bottled beer is cheap, 1.60 euros for a large bottle.

6 large bottles of water from San Stefanos supermarket (next to ice cream shop) is 1.6 euros and they will deliver to the Romanza.

Hope this helps

Where to stay / Re: Romanza Hotel
« on: July 09, 2013, 04:33:22 PM »
I stayed at The Romanza the same time as Rod, and yes, five sun beds were reserved very early in the morning, and yes, the majority were not occupied until later in the morning, but I cannot remember a time where there were no sun beds available but probably not in the prime positions.

I am an early riser and I used to, either lie on the sun bed or have a coffee in close vicinity to it.

It would be difficult for management to impose strict rules as the "five in question" have been regulars for many years, but in principle I do agree with Rod.

By far the best "towels on sun beds" policy I have ever seen is in an hotel in Playa De Las Americas, if towels are left on unoccupied sun beds before 10.00am they and any other personal possessions are removed by the pool staff and the sun beds made available to other guests, great fun to watch!!

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: FantaSea

Yes it is  - just a slight slope if I recall as well

You're probably referring to the Jazzmin, it's been shut for many years now.

The Fantasea was special - The food - superb.  We had giant beans, Greek salad, pototes and the best Kalimari ever.  One litre of wine, two metaxa's each [one on the hourse]

That's it, I'm off to the Fantasea tonight, and I sincerely hope we get a metaxa to drink on the horse back to the hotel!!

We visited Beachcomber twice during our stay in June and each time I was able to buy a single glass of wine with my meal.

Must have changed since 2012
