Where to stay / Re: Romanza Hotel
« on: July 09, 2013, 04:33:22 PM »
I stayed at The Romanza the same time as Rod, and yes, five sun beds were reserved very early in the morning, and yes, the majority were not occupied until later in the morning, but I cannot remember a time where there were no sun beds available but probably not in the prime positions.

I am an early riser and I used to, either lie on the sun bed or have a coffee in close vicinity to it.

It would be difficult for management to impose strict rules as the "five in question" have been regulars for many years, but in principle I do agree with Rod.

By far the best "towels on sun beds" policy I have ever seen is in an hotel in Playa De Las Americas, if towels are left on unoccupied sun beds before 10.00am they and any other personal possessions are removed by the pool staff and the sun beds made available to other guests, great fun to watch!!

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: FantaSea

Yes it is  - just a slight slope if I recall as well

You're probably referring to the Jazzmin, it's been shut for many years now.

The Fantasea was special - The food - superb.  We had giant beans, Greek salad, pototes and the best Kalimari ever.  One litre of wine, two metaxa's each [one on the hourse]

That's it, I'm off to the Fantasea tonight, and I sincerely hope we get a metaxa to drink on the horse back to the hotel!!

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Romantic Meal.

We visited Beachcomber twice during our stay in June and each time I was able to buy a single glass of wine with my meal.

Must have changed since 2012

Today, 25 degrees and calm, the last few days considerably cooler with very fresh winds, no need for air conditioning.

Agree with you Dibully, Nafsika is great although we are not staying there but are eating there regularly, Stefanos is great, always happy, Speros is Speros, always the same.
We also met Gav, Pam and little Mackenzie, he's a cutie. They are coming to The Romanza BBQ Night on Sunday so we'll see them again.

As Gav says! not many in June/July but worse later in the year.

I hear a very friendly Wasp arrives next week and he's there again in September. Strange, they never trouble me!!

Is that short cut still there through those apartments next to the Romanza? We used to nip through there then through Teresas

Sometimes the gate is open, sometimes it's padlocked

There is a blue bus(1.50 ) takes you to San Rocco then a walk to the green bus station for San Stef. but the hours are difficult. Look at web site for www.holiday taxis - they wait for your arrival and take you to your accom. no matter what time. £14 p.p.

Just got a quote from www.holidaytaxis for 2 from Corfu Airport to Ag Stef (return), price of £73.67, quite a bit dearer than Noula at SS Travel

Agree Gav, very expensive in September compared with easyJet, almost double the cost.

For Greek dancing, Zorba's wins hands down, as the guys really seem to enjoy what they are doing.
I know the customers certainly do!

Until you've seen The Romanza Greek dancing, it's difficult to draw a comparison, unlike Zorbas at The Romanza all the guests (at times) take part as well.
