Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Meal at Romanza
« on: June 05, 2013, 11:29:55 PM »
Is it far to walk from the Tereza, we never got up as far as the Romanza last time!!!

Also how would we book a table, would we have to pop up there say earlier in the day that we wanted to eat there?

Not very far from The Teresa, just a couple of hundred yards.

If you want to book you could phone, let me know if you want to and I will PM you with the telephone number.

Oh reserving a table overlooking the sea is great advice, thanks. Which night is bbq night (I'd rather go on an 'ordinary' night?

I don't mind the trek at all, it's the other half who just wants the closest bar and restaurant ;D

Sunday is BBQ night, and the trek up is well worth it, and just think it's all downhill after that!!

Hi, we've never actually made it up to Romamza at night. We're thinking of having a meal there this year - will I have to book (not planning on going to the greek night)

If it's not BBQ night you'll be OK just to arrive, but if you want to reserve a table directly overlooking the beach/sea then it's best to reserve.

San Stefanos news and views / Re: Back from Holiday
« on: June 05, 2013, 02:03:21 AM »
Got back yesterday after 2 lovely weeks in San Stefanos.  We stayed at the Vicky Apartments again and had a great holiday.  Seaweed all gone.  It was lovely to meet Lesley who was really friendly and helpful.  Weather a little mixed but nothing to complain about and only had rain during the one night during the storm a few nights ago.
Had some lovely meals as usual and tried the new taverna Mediterranean Village and loved the food there.  Prices seem to be the same as last year.
Went to the Condor and they had Grease and Dirty Dancing tributes on and Keith Mitchell at Athens Bar.  Sadly heard that Jerry James wife has died.  On a happier note it was lovely to see all the friendly faces around the village and we had a lovely night at

Shame to hear about Jerry James wife, on a positive note where is the Mediterranean Village Taverna?

Where to stay / Re: VILLAS
« on: June 04, 2013, 01:41:47 AM »
May be a long shot Harry but the Romanza have well appointed sea view villas  near the harbour end of the bay. From memory I think they cater for about 6 or so. They do however have 2 side by side  - could be an option ?  finished to a high standard I recall. Hope you get fixed up Ok.

Sellsy, have stayed at The Romanza Villas, fantastic, private pool, state of the art kitchen, TV/games room, sauna, bathrooms and showers galore, superb sea views across the bay, close to town, but only three double bedrooms.
Yes, you could book both of the two villas but that could prove to be a bit expensive.

Been sat in mistral  watching the donut man doing a roaring trade on the beach today. UGHH

Seen him last year walking along the beach singing that famous High Noon song " Donut forsake me oh my darling"

To be fair, maybe with the exception of Fedra Mare and Delfino, most pools in San Stef are much of a muchness.
The Romanza has superb views but you don't get many day trippers venturing up their as it's a proper hike!!

The 9 Muses in Kef is on a par with the Delfino although a little larger. It certainly pi$$ed a lot of folk off last year..... thank god they have a little quiet pool at the back which was a haven of tranquility! !

Never had a problem with using the pool at The Fedra Mare, but then I always get the kumquat jam at The Romanza!!!

The Nafsika pool is not used much by the guests, quite empty during the day, (mostly guests at the beach) and Speros (Spiros) is very happy for you to use it when you visit for lunch/drinks, (as long as you discuss metaphysics with him)

The Romanza pool (although very busy with guests) does have "interlopers" on the sunbeds but they are always welcomed as they dine or drink there.

See you in Ag Stef Gav!!

Agree with most, Manthos is the place to go, try the seafood platter, includes octopus, gorgeous, situated directly opposite The Nafsika.

Also try Gratsela Taverna in Arillas, mostly seafood caught by the owners of the taverna, situated right on the beach.

Haven't stayed at The Fedra Mare, but know Dimitri and Harri (Charitini, her Greek name) very well, we go for lunches/drinks most days.  I've got to say that they are tremendous hosts. Harri makes the most wonderful Greek salad lunches, we will be there again in June / July, can't wait!!
We really must stay there one year, maybe next year.

We always eat here when in Corfu Town

The Mouragia Taverna, Arseniou 15,
It's rated 3 out of 53 restaurants in Corfu Town. Turn left out of the coach park and continue for 300 – 400 yards with sea on your left, it is then on the right on the same road.

Lots of the local Greeks eat here and it is very popular

It serves typically Greek food and overlooks the sea with Albania in the background, also between Corfu Town and Albania is the island of Vido (also known as Ptichia)
