Hey, Scottygirl,

We're also leaving tonight and delayed like most of Europe.

Currently enjoying the new lounge at the airport.

Have a safe journey.

Second that request-I dream of their pain au chocolat from
the Bakery between holidays so any chance to have more of their goodies (and not have to get up at the crack of 11am before they run out/close the bakery!!) is great for me.

LOL. I know. Fancy closing at 11, a mere 5 hours after starting work. This place is open late, so you may be able to place an order the night before?

Spetserako.

Where is this new bakery please?

Hi BarbaraG,

It is next to the Barras on the opposite corner to Tasty Corner.

The original bakery is still functioning. This new venue is now the public outlet for its wares.

The new cafe/bakery is now open.
This is run by the same people as the original bakery across the road from the Barras.
All the usual bread and pies available plus an amazing array of cakes.

We had breakfast there this morning. The waffle machine wasn't working  so had pancakes. Pancakes, not crepes. Stacked 4 high, I had banoffee (1 of my 5 a day!), whilst the boss had Bueno.
Freshly squeezed OJ and a latte to accompany.

It's taken 2 years for this to come to fruition, but it is a lovely venue. In the morning, there are plenty of shaded tables.

My one gripe -and this is not the cafe's fault - is that people are now parking on the pavement forcing pedestrians (especially those with pushchairs) into the road. This is a gripe that also I have in the UK with inconsiderate car drivers.

We ate here last night. Very good.

They provided water, on the house as soon as we sat down.
Due to the heat, we wanted something simple and not too 'heavy'.
We opted for lamb chops and a pork souvlaki. Simple but very tasty. Friendly  and attentive staff.

I hope that this restaurant is successful.

Lovely weather but very hot.

3.30 this afternoon it was 34.5 in the shade.

Out of interest, took a reading in the sun. 47 degrees!!

Stay safe and hydrated everyone.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Athens Bar
« on: June 21, 2024, 11:12:30 PM »
Not sure whether this is new for this year, but the menu available at Athens Bar is a little different from elsewhere in the village.

Mediterranean approach to a range of dishes, we narrowed our choice to grilled salmon (in a soy sauce) and pork medallions in an espresso sauce. Both very tasty.

Staff very friendly.

The after dinner Raki also hit the spot nicely!

Hi all.
We're back in our favourite place after a torrid 12 months.
Looking forward to some well-needed recuperation.
Arrived late last Thursday. Got into the Jasmine, just as the heavens opened.
Seeing Spiros and his lovely family and familiar faces immediately set the tone and we were relaxed straight away.
Friday was very windy, causing large waves and quite a bit of seaweed being deposited on the beach, from Manthos all the way to Havana.
Wind eased by Sunday and it is now quite hot with the forecast to be even hotter later in the week.
New unit next to Barras looks nearly ready to open. Been told that it will be cake and coffee shop.
Cre Petit not open this year.
A delight to see all the regular faces around the village.

It completely depends on your circumstances. We have already booked our flights for next June because we don't want to risk losing that particular flight time and date from our local airport.

If it about pricing, I doubt that there will be much difference as you get nearer to your date of departure.

... coming in from the North and looking like it will hit Corfu very soon :o !

It did and it was very dramatic. Would like to order another one for next year, please.

Kamini has lots of regulars - many of them locals or people who've been going there for donkey's years. And just a few steps away are: Nafsika, Mistral, Beachcomber and Fantasia.

We've had a lot of good meals this holiday from all over - not going to reopen that debate - but I have to say that the meal tonight at Fantasea was incredible. Worth the extra few metres to walk.
