The thought of spindly Don legs in any form of Skirt, would turn all the local boys a sickly green colour I would think!! LOL

I have been in Touch with Kostas, son of Nikos Golden Beach Hotel.
They have done a re-vamp with Kostas now leading the business and have up-graded and re-named the Restaurant "Fantasea"
After some quiet years by the Fedre Mare and close to the Church in the more Chilled end of San Stefanos,
Kostas has up-graded and his Italian styled eaterie, specialising in Corfiot , Greek and Italian dishes, with some International dishes as well.
I can tell you having eaten there last season, it is the hidden gem in San Stefanos and worth a visit, also having an outstanding viewpoint over the bay and beach,
great place for the sunsets as well.
The Hotel has Wifi and lots of hi tech offerings including laptop loan - it's now worth a big consideration, especially for a meal.
If anyone wants contact details just ask!
Thats good news - love the new name! I'll be sure to pop in for some food when it opens for the season.
I stayed at that hotel on my first ever holiday in San Stefanos in 1992. It was actually really nice and I just knew I'd be back again and again and again etc.......... and you know the rest Tony!.

This is true - I noticed a big difference in my shopping bill towards the end of last year. The petrol had already gone up last year and another increase is going to be bad news. I'm in UK at the minute and have noticed a difference here too from this time last year. Greece used to be a country that was inexpensive to live in. Not now - and the fall in the euro hasn't helped!

Dancing Bar
Have you ever seen a dancing bar ?? Perhaps yes - when you're inebriated & hallucinating?
I saw this on a poster once advertising a certain establishment no longer open (Magnet I think). Am sure it was also on the wall painted sign on the side of the Condor - might still be there. It always raised a giggle or two out of me when I conjured up this image of a bar dancing.

Yes, mud track - holes on mud track full of water - trucks on road - diggers - men standing round with hands on hips. Get the picture?? But yes I suppose it was just mud tracks - dare I say it - in the olden days!

It was completed just after we went home last year.
Mmm, funny that - it was nowhere near ready when I left on 9th December.
Don't think I've ever seen anything done quickly over there - everythings snail's pace - you know, a la Greek-style!! Unless of course they've gotten a move on since then!
Hopefully it'll be finished before the start of the season eh?

Was just thinking also - this not only will affect tourism - what about the fishing??
As we all know there is still a busy harbour there and lots of our Greek friends are fishermen. There's another industry going on in our villages and that will be affected too. I spoke to a fisherman in November about this and he said its going to be a real problem.
Whatever next ??

Just signed it - thanks Tony for the translation link - I couldn't find the translate button either.
We heard a bit about this in the summer - and I'm appalled at the idea. Not nice for the tourists or the locals. Who wants to have the beautiful view spoiled by this ?? Our house looks over the sea - I don't really want to have to sit and look at this from my balcony.
It would certainly affect tourism I'm sure - as if tourism isn't already affected!
Honestly - who's thinking all these ideas up!!
