Thanks for the advice! In the end we have booked a Parilias apartment to be right next to the beach! Can't wait until July 2016!

Does anyone know anything about villa Ifigenia? I think it's fairly central but I'm not sure. Is it near anywhere that would be noisy?

Just booked our flight (2 tickets) with Ryanair from Prestwick to Corfu flying out on 4th July! £565 all in! Thomson and Thomas Cook were about £1000!
Now all I have to sort out is where to stay this year!
Can't wait for that first cold beer at the Mango bar!

Yup, did a quick check and our European maps don't include Corfu. I've printed off the original directions which did the job last time!

Only four days until we return to San Stefanos!!
Last time we hired a car and used Tonyco1's excellent directions to get from the airport. At home we use satnav (TomTom) to go on any journey. Can we now use it in Corfu as an extra to the directions?

Thank you everyone! I have booked the Vicky Apartments - Lesley from Corfu Selection was very helpful.
So come July next year we will be returning to San Stefanos! This time we will be treating our grown up children to the chilled out holiday we had last time - can't wait! I know they will love it as much as we did!
As the nights draw in and the pressure of work increases it is brilliant to know that we have San Stafanos to look forward to...

Where to stay / Vicky Apartments or Athina Hotel

We stayed in San Sefanos in the summer of 2009 and loved it! So much so that although we couldn't manage this summer we are going next summer and for the second week inviting our two grown up children to join us! Our flights are booked we're so keen - and I normally am a lastminuter!
We stayed in Hotel Athina which was great. However I thought the two bedroom apartments at Vicky's might be better for the four of us. The reviews look great and I think that is what we will do. I would just like confirmation from all you experts that it is the right thing to do. It would be in the new block - is the standard of accommodation about the same?
The wild card could be a week at Delphino Blue for the two of us followed by a week at Sugar and Almond for the four - very expensive and in the summer just how much would we be indoors? Luxurious though! Like the idea of being near the sea and near a pool!

As ever I have missed the small print! I booked a twin room with a balcony at the Hotel Athina through Thomson Holidays. I have just phoned Thomsons to check the room has a sea view; it doesn't. They suggested speaking or emailing the hotel direct to see what they can do. I am frustrated as I chose the hotel over private apartments which did have a sea view!
Is anyone able to give me contact details for Athina? I have tried Googling it but Thomsons seem to dominate the search results. I don't expect they can offer a sea view but we would like a top floor room.

This will be our first trip to Corfu and we have chosen San Stefanos, partly through reading all the excellent reviews! There are only two of us as it is our first holiday without our children. We have booked our flights and accommodation (Hotel Athina) separately.
So what should I do now, hire a car for the week from the airport or hire a taxi for the transfers?
How much would we expect to pay for the taxi?
Car hire works out at about £140 for the week and would allow us to explore the island. I think I would prefer to hire a car, if so can anyone recommend a company?
