San Stefanos Online ~ North West Corfu

No kettle in room but George will make you a coffee first thing.  Spiros still in the bar.  Costas ("Grumpy Man" - who is not grumpy at all but does a good impression) still in poolside bar.  Have joked with him about making the best coffee and am going to get a photo of myself outside a Costa Coffee bar and send it to him.  He had no idea what I was talking about! Got back yesterday and have already booked for same time next year.  49 weeks and 6 days to go ...................

To Sandra W - Yes you guessed right.  I'm from Leeds and my two favourite bands when I was a teenager were the Sensational Alex Harvey Band and the Bay City Rollers1  How's that for a varied taste in music!  Have grown out of the Bay City Rollers but have got loads of SAHB on my i pod.  Greatest band live.  Even saw them in Redcar (without Alex obviously) about 3 years ago. How great that you knew him.  Will have to chat more about this.  Are you going to San Stef?

Fly from Leeds tommorow (fri 13th i know)..staying at the Athina (again) deep joy no working for 2 weeks.. Charlie and Netta`s 50th wedding anniversary on the 20th when we are there, so a bit of a do in order me thinks!!! anybody in the Athens bar that night come and join us.

Me and my daughter went out on 28th May and came back yesterday.  We had only ever been in August before.  I knew it would be quiter at this time of year but it seemed to me there was hardly anyone there.  Arrived around 11.30 pm and went for a walk and did not see one person walking down the "high" street.  No one in Condor Bar although that did get slightly busier to the end of the week. Stayed at Athina Hotel B & B only and they told me it has been a very quiet start to the season. All restraunts very quiet indeed, with Mythica and Olympia being the busiest. (But you didn't have to book at either.)
The beach now looks like Arrilas beach did last year, and only room for one row of beds and you could see where the sea had been right up to the top of the beach recently.  As I say I don't know whether this is normal for this time of year or due to the wet winter they told me they have had.
That said everyone was very welcoming as usual and we got to do some lovely walks which we never do in August because of the heat.  I am very lucky to be going again in August and like to think I am doing my bit to help the Greek economy. 

Update from san stef...Ce and Katie ate at aussie oil last night and it was v good Katies shoulders burnt (but nose ok).. the staff at the Athina as delightfull as ever.. bit cloudy this morning though, but they watched the Rhinos yesterday so my tales of a "yorkshire heatwave" have been dashed

Thank you all for your replies.  They were very useful.. Yes I am a Leeds fan and have been very happy with the promotion.  I had my photo taken with Jermaine Beckford and Simon Grayson a couple of weeks ago!  We go to San Stef  on Friday and again on 13th August.  May see you all there. x x

I read this board a lot and this post horrified me.  Thankfully it now seems it's not going to happen but I have signed the petition just in case. x
