Don't worry about this supposed favouritism.

We went for the first time this year and knew from this site that Yannis would be there the second week.

Suffice it to say that I didn't know who he was for 4 days and only found out because he saw me with my netbook, deduced who I was and introduced himself.

In our experience, the staff at the Romanza treat everybody the same way. You pass the time of day with them in conversation and they will respond. If you want your privacy, you will get it.

Don't worry and look forward to your holiday - you will have a fantastic time.

Great hotel and great resort. We are still missing the place.

Surely the point is that a full english breakfast everyday for a 2 week holiday would work out at €42 or at todays exchange rate c£35. That would increase the cost of a fortnights stay next June to £552 per person at the Romanza which remains excellent value particularly when compared with other Hotels in the resort.

I suspect that the Romanza needs for either it's own or Thomsons purposes to come in at a price point and the supplied Breakfast is the best that can be done economically at that price point. Moreover the owners have 2 options, either negotiate an increase in rate with Thomsons, a tactic which may be fraught with problems, or charge additionally for improvements to the Breakfast offering with the dual advantage of offering their customers an improved service and making some additional money without the Thomsons 'rake off'

We stayed for 2 weeks in June and found the Breakfast perfectly adequate at the Hotel's price point and on the days we decided to pay more, found what was offered to be excellent particularly at the very reasonable price.

At the end of the day, you only get what you pay for. Trust me if you want an American style buffet breakfast you will pay at lot more than the Romanza for an improvement which won't be worth the uplift in cost.

Still each to his own, we will certainly be going back next year

As to the guy starting a petition, I despair!

Just a further recommendation for the bar up on the headland. Didn't know it was called the Akrotiri but the views are fantastic and the place is like something out of a style magazine. Don't know how he's going to make his investment back - must have cost thousands.

Our routine was fresh orange juice on the way to Arillas and a nice cold Corfu beer on the way back - magical.

The bar down the headland on the Arillas side ain't bad either

Beach is fine - easily space for 2 rows of loungers and to walk past them

Havn't been round to the nudist section but no problems at the bottom of the Romanza path

Where to stay / First Visit - Initial Report
« on: June 12, 2010, 04:28:48 PM »
Arrived at the Romanza yeaterday and thought I would post some intial thoughts.

The place:

1. The resort is everything you guys say it is and more. Very clean and very welcoming. Absolutely top class

2. Excellent value. 2 Course meal at the Little Prince last night 33 Euros including large beers and a litre of very good rose wine. Salads at the Nafiska for lunch today were excellent.

3. Yes it is British orientated but in a nice way if that makes any sense - not totally in your face.

4. San Stefanos Travel is very good - booked excursions today and they were very helpful. Special offer €8 for the Corfu Town trip

The Romanza

1. Room and hotel absolutely superb. Views are to die for. Room is spotless.

2. The breakfast is perfectly adequate. 4 pieces of toast, scrambled egg and 2 croisants plus orange juice per couple. Unlimited very good coffee. Moreover the prices for the add ons are very reasonable. What looked like an excellent bacon baguette €1.50. I will be trying this tomorrow!

3. The hill - not so much steep as long but no problen for anybody without major mobility difficulties. The path down to the beach is fine and I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Havana Bar just at the bottom of the path - excellent.

Downsides - sitting on the Thomson coach for an hour at the airport waiting for other flights to arrive. And I am going to be in trouble for this but I had the Sizzling Steak at the Little Prince last night and though it only average - the roast potatoes and the starters wered
great though!

Beachcombers tonight.
