Similar resorts to SS.
« on: December 06, 2013, 08:34:49 PM »
So after saying we'll be holidaying in the uk next year, a flight has appeared for a great price so we are looking at SS again.

I think I'd like to do 4 or 5 nights in a similar resort to SS but preferably down south to break up our holiday, before heading to SS for 10 nights.

We are 2 adults (early 30's) and 1 child age 5. Sidari would be way too busy for us, and Arillas a little on the quiet side.

Where else on Corfu would be suitable? Preferably in the south (never been further south than Town) but all areas considered. :)

Edit: August time as we are limited to kiddies hols and don't want to risk the weather in May like this year.

I've always fancied trying Agios Gordios (sort of in the middle)

After going to San Stefanos for five consecutive years we decided to try somewhere else in Corfu.  So glad we did - we went to St George South and loved it.  It is very similar to San Stefanos, with probably a few more tavernas.  It is also flat!! It has the same friendly feel to it with many returning guests.  Lovely beach and good transfer, about an hour.  We have booked again for next June.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys.

Justonemore - what kind of nightlife would you find in  St George South? It looks ideal with plenty of tavernas, nice beach etc. Many bars similar to say Condor, with acts on, or more low key? Lots of families with young kids in August?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

There is one bar very similar to Condor with tribute acts etc. overlooking the sea - beautiful setting.  I would guess there are probably a dozen or so bars and same amount of restaurants, all seem to have a good atmosphere and many of them with sea views. We had some brilliant meals there. We went late June, so can't help with August, but would imagine it to be family orientated.

Any other questions please ask.

We went to Agios Gordios in the middle just down from Paleokastritsa the year before we came to SS which was 2009 and we stayed at a lovely Taverna called Sebastians.  The town is much quieter than SS with just really one main street that goes down to the beach which you can walk down in three minutes.  It is long beach with good tavernas on it.  there are less tavernas and no Condor type of places there.  It is really very quiet or it was when we were there and that was the end of August. We went for 10 days and found it too long but we hired a car after about five days.  San Stefanos is much better.  Hope this helps

Hi.what we tend to do is hire a car for 3 days and throw in a bag with esentials for an evening. If you find a place that interests you,you can stay over for the night.you will always find a room .That way you can get a feel for how the night life is.
