Euro rate.
« on: January 17, 2015, 01:42:52 PM »
My wife is just off to Thomas Cook to get some more euros. We got some at 1.2600 a while back, but today it is 1.2759 on click and collect. Best for ages.

Possibly Rilo, what with the Greek elections a week away. If Syriza get in the euro could crash and burn.

The Euro is a currency disaster zone at the moment.

It's always a gamble, isn't? Wait for the summer Interbank rate or buy cash now; or next week; or the week after.

Well Syriza wins, but markets fairly normal about it and euro only nudged down a little. Apparently they are OK until July for money, so now we will get some months of bluster, bulls**t, and downright bullying from the EU I suppose. Greeks I have spoken to say they voted for Syriza 'for a change', so how long Syriza will keep in Government is debatable.

I changed Ł602.95 (it was to round the euros up) yesterday and received 790 euros.  Equivalent to 1.31.  It may still rise!   :)

Probably change daily for a while yet but at least we are going to have more to spend than last year. I think we got about €1.20 last year

Anyone tried the money shop yet??.  Very good comparitive high street rate. Check it out , you, ll be suprised.  And they will usually negotiate up if you want enough.  Better as I write than any other high street chain. 1.3789 .... no commision .... an old paddy mate put me on to them, its all he uses for trips home .

Olga Travel in resort had 1.37 euros to 1 GBP posted yesterday when I was in Agios Stefanos. I think they normally then charge 2% comms......
