Heatwave?
« on: June 17, 2024, 03:43:31 PM »
For anyone currently out there-Is it really that hot there currently?
The body of an American tourist has reportedly been found on the Greek island of Mathraki, adding to the list of foreigners missing or dead during a record-setting heatwave. (From the BBC)

I don't think the temperatures have been extremely high, but prolonged 30-35c is I think a problem. Scotygirl has said it is chilly at night, could be the sun burn, but perhaps a breeze making it feel chilly as the night temp look okay . That alone makes it a nice relief in those day temps. More of a worry is the forecast for the same for the rest of the month and right through to September! We feel comfortable at 15c here in Yorkshire ::)

The Eastern part of Greece and the mainland has been hot but here it has been in fairness quite a normal June with temperatures around 28c - 32c.  A few days very windy and today just a gentle breeze.
As always the sensible thing is to stay out of the midday sun and keep hydrated, wear a hat and vigorous activities are best before 11.00 or after 4pm.
Evenings it has mostly been around 22c so pleasant for dining Al Fresco.
Wishing everyone a lovely holiday..........
